Mechanical Reconditioning Process

To insure that each Mercury Certified Pre-owned Vehicle offers the level of performance and comfort Mercury demands, each pre-owned Mercury undergoes a comprehensive mechanical reconditioning process during certification. This process includes correction to standard of all items noted on the Vehicle Inspection Checklist by the authorized Service Technician. If a part is found to be sub-standard during this inspection, only new Ford/Motorcraft or Ford Authorized Remanufactured Parts may be used to replace it.

Eligibility

To maintain an equitable baseline standard of quality, any Mercury vehicle from the current or five previous model years is eligible for certification under the Mercury Certified Pre-owned program.

For example, as of the 2008 model year, model years eligible for certification are: 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, and 2003.

The actual model types accepted are Mercury cars and SUVs.

Inspection Process

To earn the designation of Mercury Certified Pre-owned Vehicle, each pre-owned car must undergo and successfully complete a rigorous 169-point inspection. And this inspection can only be conducted by an eligible service technician who has successfully completed Program Awareness training.
