Personal Safety System®
Mariner has an innovative system that uses a network of sensors to determine appropriate protection for the driver and front passenger in certain frontal collisions. It customizes the deployment of the dual-stage front airbags* based on several criteria: 1) the driver’s seat position; 2) whether the front passenger seat is occupied and the weight range of the occupant; 3) whether the front safety belts are in use; and 4) the overall severity of the impact.
There are six strategically placed airbags — dual-stage front airbags, standard front seat-mounted side airbags and side curtain airbags (part of the Safety Canopy® System) — that deploy from the headliner on both sides of the vehicle. A rollover sensor directs side curtain and side airbag deployment in the event of a rollover or certain side-impact collisions. The side curtain airbags remain inflated longer to help further protect outboard occupants in both rows.

Anti-Lock Braking System
When computer-controlled sensors indicate wheel lockup during hard braking, the four-channel ABS electronically pumps the brakes several times per second. As a result, this system helps you maintain steering control.
The standard four-wheel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) prevents wheel lockup during hard braking conditions.

Child Safety
Mariner features standard Lower Anchors and Tether anchors for CHildren (LATCH) for compatible child safety seats placed in the rear outboard seat positions. Designed for ease of use, these anchors make securing infant and child safety seats quick and convenient, while helping ensure your peace of mind.
